I grin a bit at that, adjusting the waist band of my stockings as I settle against the passenger seat.

"You two are very cute together." I say, running my fingers through my hair to work out any tangles.

I smile at that, murmuring the word, "together," as I try fruitlessly to fight off the sleep threatening to win me over. It's a losing battle, though, and one I lose quickly when Ljuba's fingers comb through my hair gently.

The excitement dies down once Marnin dozes off, Ljuba not far behind him as she props herself against the back of the van before nodding off with her fingers in his hair. I've crawled into the mess of my own things, tucking my blankets around me before I set to work putting my things away for the evening.

Jean is next to fall asleep, perched in his front seat and his head against the window, leaving only myself and Cael awake. He's got his guitar back in his lap, strumming it softly and occasionally messing with the knobs at the top.

"What do those do?" I whisper, tucking myself down into my blankets before I prop my head in my hands, nodding towards the odd looking knobs.

*Cael*

"The pegs?" I ask as I look up to follow where her gaze is. "They keep the strings in place and control how tight they are. The note they play depends on how tightly they're adjusted. If they're too tight, a note will be too sharp, too loose and the note'll be flat. Mine like to slip so the notes go flat pretty quickly."

"Ah," I nod, yawning as I adjust the blankets over my side. "Why don't you get new ones?"

"Because I like these ones," I say with the faintest bit of a pout, my fingers running over the aged pegs fondly. "They have echo stones or something embedded in them. Makes 'em pretty. And they match the bridge pins down here.

"Besides, it's really hard finding a good quality instrument with all the parts intact," I reason as I turn the guitar over and run my hand across the wood fondly. "This one has been good to me. I don't want to mess her up."

I nod softly, stifling another yawn as I point towards the guitar before finishing. "Where'd you get it from?"

"Found it in the ruins of an old apartment building," I say lightly. "The apartment belonged to a colossus... or at least I think it did. It was the biggest score I've ever made on echo stones. There were hundreds of them, shaped into little statues and bowls and everything you could imagine. It was kind of heartbreaking to see them broken down."

I smile a bit at that, lifting my front to adjust my pillows before sinking back down against them.

"My father has some - Shaped into horses and figurines, like toys. They were handed down several generations, a gift to one of my great great grand-somethings when they were born. Their father and mother had friends who were Colossus. People made offers on them all the time, their colors were so vibrant and alive

"No one in the family's ever been able to part with them, though. A little ironic, I always thought, considering most of our ancestors were sworn rivals of the Colossus, but then - It's a little ironic the symbiotic nature our races have now, too."

"And what is your race, exactly?" I ask, trying not to sound too inquisitive. "I've always wondered why it is that some poths are so much more skilled than others."

"Oh, now I can't divulge you that." I grin as I nuzzle into my pillow. "It's a trade secret."

"Oh come on," I scoff. "I've seen your hoohah, you can't keep any secrets after that."

I laugh as I shake my head.

"Jean's been inside me, you don't see me telling him, do you?"

"Maybe you did," I say, holding my hands up. "Maybe you communicated in grunts and moans and shouts."

I laugh again, my cheeks flushing slightly as I roll onto my back with a shrug.

"Hmm, maybe I did." I concede, "Probably wasted efforts - I hear not many know much about the drow or old witch lines that used to live before the war."

"Drow?" I ask with a frown, the word sounding familiar but foreign at the same time. "Wait, aren't those the black elves or whatever that were rumored to live underground? I thought those were a myth, like fairies or something."

"Does that make me mythic?" I retort, giggling silently at my own lame insinuation.

"They were real. My Great Great Great Gre-" I pause to count on my fingers, finally shrugging as I give up. "However many Greats Grandfather was one."

"That's awesome," I grin, looking her over with further interest. "You'd never guess it, as pale as you are, but somehow it makes you hotter."

I chuckle as I peer over at him, shrugging as I kick my legs out and cross my ankles.

"Because two hundred years ago, my ancestors were primal earth dwellers? Sexy."

"Not just that, they were badasses," I laugh as I pluck out a quiet tune on the guitar. "Haven't you heard that old song? Chains and whips excite me."

"I can't say I have," I laugh, wiggling my toes under my blanket. "Sounds a little perverse. Suits you, though. What with you being a heathen."

"I've learned from some of the best," I smirk, stretching my feet out so that my toes are touching hers. "What was it you were saying earlier? Oh fuck, oh gods, oh fuck, fuck, fuck?"

"I was not-" I snap, picking my head up a bit to look at him as I narrow my eyes. "I hardly use that word! God, maybe. But I never said that other one."

"Yeah, but I'm not too religious, so I changed it to something I enjoy doing more," I grin as I wiggle my toes against hers. "Also, that's fucking adorable that you don't say fuck."

"It's a really foul word." I shrug, tensing my foot to kick at him a bit. "You don't have to keep using it."
