I clear my throat as I shrug, pointedly avoiding his gaze as I continue picking at my hair - twisting odd sections into braids.

"Why do you think I propositioned Jean? Everyone keeps talking about it like it's this great thing, and it wasn't. So I'm curious." I say, unraveling the braid and sighing as I look out the window to see Jean heading back towards the passenger door.

"Just saying," I say lightly as I drop my foot so I can lean forward to ash my cigarette in the ashtray. "I don't charge by the hour."

Before anything more can be said on the subject, Jean opens the door and pauses as he notices Teagan in the passenger seat.

"Oh," he says lamely. "Sorry."

"Climb in, lover boy!" I say, nodding toward the back of the van before climbing over Teagan so I can lean out the open door. "Oi! Lju, Marn! Let's go!"

*Lju*

I've just managed to get my pants back up when I hear Cael calling for us, and I shiver roughly as I head back towards Marnin and the van. I cringe at the thought of crawling back into the van with Jean, the memory of what he'd heard coming back as a rush of dread as soon as I realized he was avoiding me when we crawled out of the van.

"Did we ever figure out why that girl was naked?" I ask Marnin as I fall into stride beside him, eager to think of anything other than the confrontation, no doubt, in my future.

*Marn*

"Some kind of vision quest or something," I say as I pause to scoop up a handful of snow to rub between my hands. It's a poor substitute for hand washing, but it does the job. "It's possible I got out of the van earlier to see what they were up to. I'm pretty sure she sat out here, in the snow, for an hour without any clothes on."

"How?" I laugh at the idea, glancing out into the snow curiously as we get closer to the van. "And why? What in the world is a vision quest?"

"My guess?" I ask as I stumble through the snow, my arm looping in the crook of her elbow for stability as we walk. "I'd say it's the side effects of some damn good herbs. As for why - well, why does anyone get high off their ass? Fun, escape, spiritual nonsense? Who knows."

"After those cigarettes, I can't say I'm eager to explore any more of her herbs." I laugh softly, my hand smoothing over the arm tangled around mine. "My head is killing me this morning."

I hesitate as we reach the edge of the road, the van only a few yards ahead of where I stop entirely. "Honestly, most of yesterday is just a haze of napping and occasionally sticking my head out to see what time it was. It was odd," I laugh nervously, "and it left me wanting to do this."

I step towards him, cheeks flushing warmly as I kiss him.

My eyes widen in surprise before I melt into the kiss with a quiet groan. My arm winds around her waist, relishing the shared warmth as I return the kiss happily. Of course, with warmth comes closeness, and I can tell the moment that closeness becomes a little too close as she tenses just slightly.

"That-," I start, clearing my throat roughly as I try to create a little more distance without pulling away entirely, my cheeks flushing in embarrassment. "Sorry... that wasn't intentional. I, uh... just woke up like that."

My cheeks couldn't possibly be any redder, the cold mixing well with the embarrassment coloring them. I can't help but look down, my eyes clamping shut as I notice the distinctive outline, a hand rising to cover my face as I hide behind it.

"It- That's normal! It's- I mean, those things happen, and it's normal and-" I ramble aimlessly.

"Lju," I say a little loudly, laughing lightly at her embarrassment before I catch her hand and lean in to kiss her again - this time keeping enough distance between us to avoid the embarrassingly obvious.

"It's fine," I say quietly, lingering near her as I try to ignore the way my pulse races with excitement at her proximity. "I just didn't want you to be uncomfortable."

I can't even muster he courage to look up at him - as though eye contact with a blind man is a threat - as I nod weakly, staring off in the distance.

"But-" I clear my throat, my voice dropping as I lean in closely to ask, my cheeks tight with the a giddy smirk, "is it because of me?"

I can feel my flush growing hotter as I sway a little on my feet, her smirk making my pulse skip. Leaning in closer, my lips drag across her jaw lightly as I move closer to her ear.

"Well, it certainly wasn't because of the naked mystic, if that's what you're worried about," I breathe near her ear, smirking lightly.

My cheeks burn with an embarrassed flush as I wrap my arms across my front and turn to the van.

"Your friend is gonna leave without us," I say, the van's engine revving just before the horn rings out. "We should go."

"He always comes back," I reason as I step a little closer, keeping enough distance not to embarrass her further, but close enough that I can steal in another quick kiss.

"I'm glad you told me not to see her anymore," I say quietly before I step around her to open the van door.

*Teag*

Ljuba is grinning bashfully as the couple climbs into the van, retaking their spots near the rear as the door shuts and Cael pushes the van into gear.

"Everyone ready?" I ask, offering the two in the back a smile before glancing up at Jean in his seat at the front.

"Doesn't matter if they aren't!" Cael calls, stepping on the gas as the wheels spin on the icy slush outside before jolting the van as they gain traction. I curse as I lose my balance just as I'm trying to sit down, falling backward and hitting the van door roughly.

"Dick!" I yell up at him. "It's takes two seconds to wait until everyone is seated!"

"Not my fault you're a blind clutz," he smirks into the mirror.

I startle at the exchange, frowning back at Ljuba as she seems to lean in towards Marnin to quietly ask if he's alright. I crawl around back between the front seats, settling onto the floor there as I reach up and start messing with the radio boredly.

"It looks pretty nice outside, doesn't it?" I ask, glancing up through Jean's window. "I don't see any clouds."

*Cael*

"Me either," Marnin responds as he finishes settling in beside Ljuba.

"Har har," I say mockingly before glancing up at the sky curiously. "Yeah, it is pretty nice, actually. Very blue. Like Marn's balls."

I roll my eyes, choosing to ignore the two men's teasing as I look up at Jean, tugging his arm rest down so I can rest my chin on it.

"I saw storms in my vision - Can't make sense of them, though. If it's not literal, it usually means it's further off. I hate those." I sigh, shaking my head a bit as I look past him out the window.

"I hope it's not a literal storm," Jean frowns as he looks out at the sky. "I don't have any of my gear for getting sick in the snow."

"We aren't getting stuck in any shit snowstorm," I scowl as I glance at Jean. "This baby has gotten me through more winters than you know, and she's never gotten stuck."

"So what do you think it means then?" He asks as he glances between Teagan and I.

"Simple," I shrug as I reach between the seats to pull out my tin of smokes. "It means my passengers are idiots who want to take on one of the nastiest families this side of the wall."

Jean rolls his eyes bit doesn't argue as I pull out a smoke and bring it to my lips. His eyes fixate on me with an analytical sharpness as I light the cigarette with a flame that licks its way up my fingers.

"I guarantee she'd have dreamt of fucking in a field of posies if you dipshits weren't with us," I add after taking a long drag from the cigarette, my hand going to the steering wheel as I reach over to crack the window.

"Who would she bother fucking, though?" Marnin calls up with a smirk. "She'd be stuck with your ugly mug if we weren't here, and sex doesn't work if you're all dry and shriveled up."

In the midst of pouting, I hardly even register the jab Marnin's made at Cael as I sigh, my arm rested on Jean's armrest as I stare out his window with a pout.

"But there were two storms." I say, picking my head up to look back at Cael then at the others in the back of the van. "From opposing directions. The first came hard, fast. It knocked you-" I point to Ljuba, who seems to tense under my attention, "Down. And hard. Nearly lost the blind bloke in it when the day cleared, and just as blue skies were returning, a gust of clouds came through. Slow, then fierce. The second storm took us off the road. Toppled everything.

"That's about the time I lost it." I frown, resting my head back against Jean's seat as I look at the radio boredly, occasionally reaching up to twist at the knobs in search of something other than static.

"Do you have these visions often?" Marnin asks, and I can tell he's tensed beside Ljuba. Whether it's from what Teagan has said or because of Ljuba's discomfort, I don't know. "I mean... are you like a spiritualist or a seer or..?"

I frown as I glance back at Marnin, watching his peculiar posture closely.

"I'm just an apothecary." I say with a shrug, "One who dips into her own stash, according to Cael, but I've been doing my morning rituals since I was fourteen. Every morning - the same routine. Sick or well, rain or shine."

"So your visions are stimulant induced?" Marnin asks. To his credit, his tone lacks any skepticism. He almost sounds as though he's interviewing her. "Do the things you see often come to pass?"

"Given time for interpretation and culmination?" I respond, "Yeah. Almost always."

Twisting in my spot, an arm still resting on Jean's seat as I face them in the back. "Some dreams repeat - A trio of companions, for instance. I've been getting various interpretations of this for a couple of weeks. Four in total. They're different each time, but with the same tones, so when studied, the connection is made.

"This with the storms, though. It's the first vision I've had involving a pair of anything. It's new."
