"Yeah, but it feels good to be bad," I laugh as I squeeze her hips to accentuate my point. "Maybe just a little bit?"

Giggling, I lean in to kiss at his neck as my toes curl up his calves.

"Are you saying you have a bad side?" I ask teasingly.

"I might," I say evasively, a sheepish grin plastered on my lips. "Maybe I'll share it with you sometime."

"You're lying," I laugh, pushing off of his chest to look down at him. "I don't think you have it in you."

I wince a bit at the pressure on my bruised and cracked ribs, but my grin doesn't falter as my hands roam up her arms and to her chest. "I do so," I insist. "It's just very deeply buried... though I also made a career out of some of it. That bits not as fun, though."

"You're evil superpower is finding stuff in rubble?" I ask, cocking an eyebrow at him as I adjust my arms over his chest when I notice the faint way his voice waivers under me.

"I-," I hesitate, the pressure on my ribs forcing me to still my breathing as I nudge her arms into a more comfortable spot before I can speak again. "Sure... we'll go with that. But, ya know, that's not the only thing I've done to get by. One of the perks of having awesome compensatory senses is that I observe things and do things that other people can't.

"Incidentally, some people know this, and they'll pay a lot of money for me to just happen into the right place at the right time. And it never gets back to me because who believes a blind guy is going to witness anything much less perpetrate it?" I shrug lightly, my fingers tracing the lines of her hands lazily. "People like that... if they have an ironclad alibi, no one has a clue what the fuck happened or why because all anyone saw was me. Unless it's near Richard's territory, anyway. People know me there, and I'm always suspect even if I didn't do anything."

"Are you like..." I frown incredulously as I twist my legs under me, sitting up over his lap as I cock my head at him. "Are you like some sort of hit man?"

"Wha-?!" I laugh, shaking my head. "No! Well... not usually. I try to avoid those jobs unless I agree that the person is a threat to others. But no, I just-," I hesitate, trying to remember how it had been described to me. "Facilitate discrete political and personal problem solving. I gather information, coax cooperation, acquire things that aren't exactly for trade or sale, or, more often than not, I travel with people who need a discrete companion who may or may not be able to sense people's motives and handle them should they prove threatening. I'm a Jack of all trades... assuming those trades are a little risque and questionably legal..."

"So... You're like muscle?" I ask, unsure of how the news makes me feel. I can't imagine Marnin being any other way than he is with me, and the thought of him possibly being cruel or intimidating to anyone sits oddly with me.

"You help bad people?"

"I used to help bad people - when I lived with Richard," I frown slightly. "But not anymore. Being away from him allows me to be more discerning in who I work with. Like Cael, for instance. We have a mutually beneficial arrangement. I get to travel with him for whatever work I'm doing, and in exchange, I see that he's fed and cared for when he doesn't have any echostones - and when I find some, they go to him. I also keep him out of trouble. He has a habit of going straight for his magic when he's threatened, which only escalates things... I get to try to talk sense into people, and if that doesn't work, I get us to safety - or get rid of the threat.

"Other than that, though, I do a lot of escort work," I shrug. "Like what he's doing with Teagan. Get them somewhere safely, and get paid for the effort. It's not a bad gig, assuming they don't have a giant target painted to their foreheads."

"I only ever thought you were a digger." I respond softly, smiling a bit as I look down to rest my hands on his as they rest against my hips. The roughness of his fingers is comforting against my skin, his warmth welcomed.

"Picker... Whatever."

"A scavenger?" I ask with a light laugh before nodding. "That's what I like to do. It's not as involved and I don't find myself in the middle of things I don't want to have any part of. Sadly, it doesn't make as much money as I'd like."

Giggling, I kiss him back as I lay back over him, my hands finding his face so I can hold him tenderly. We kiss for a moment before I slide back to his side, reaching for the blankets so I can pull them up to hide our nudity - his nudity. Intimacy aside, I still feel odd seeing him so bare.

"Tell me another happy story," I say, adjusting the blankets over his front before I tuck my arm back underneath. I'd gotten quite cool since we'd calmed down, the sweat on my skin going cold in the winter air. My arm stretches across his abdomen, and I hug myself to his side as my fingers trace across the sensitive skin spanning across his hipbones. "Tell me about your sister..?"

"Milly?" I ask, my heart skipping at the intimate touch. "I don't know, Milly was Milly. She was stupid good on horseback, could shoot the fluff off a rabbit's tail from a hundred yards, and she taught me to dance. Not like proper dancing like what Richard always insisted on at dinners, but that awkward, clumsy dancing when you're five and your date is your mom. That kind of dancing. First time I used it, I was so serious. It was important that the son dance with his mother. I didn't even notice everyone giggling."

I smile at the idea of his wild dancing, imagining a five-year-old Marnin intent on being a dutiful son.

"I don't think I've ever seen you dance," I remark, sighing contently as my nails continue to trace and explore.

"It's an uncomfortable sight, I'm certain," I laugh. "I'm always accused of being too rigid, too intent on the steps. I would get mad when my instructors strayed from the steps to take creative license. Especially after I lost my sight. So I'm only really any good at waltzes, everything else is too unpredictable... which is funny, really. Put a guy with a knife in front of me, and I can predict every move he'll make before he makes it. But stick me with a girl and some lively music and I fall over my own feet and hers as well."

"Aww, dancing is fun, though!" I laugh, my hand flatting as I twist to look up at him. "I used to love to dance. I never had any proper training, so I'm sure you'd hate it, but still... You should dance with me sometime."

"No stepping on my toes," I smile at him as I scoot up to kiss at his jaw, "and no getting mad if I'm a sloppy dancer."
