"I wasn't concerned you'd get lost," I respond as I hand her the leather bound journal - it matches her collar.

I take the book, sighing a bit sadly as I look down at the beautiful etched leather, my fingers running over it fondly.

"It's beautiful," I say softly, glancing up at him, "Thank you, really... But I'll be fine."

"Good, cause I'll be honest," I laugh as I wave my hand in front of my face. "I don't know how scary a blind man is escorting a pretty girl home after dark. It might look more like you're guiding me."

"I can just take the mask off and no one will bother me," I grin a bit at his joking, tucking the book under my arm as I settle deeper into my sweater with the cool air coming in from the loggia.

"No one tends to bother me, anyway," I shrug, lingering in the warm-smelling room as I glance towards the foyer. "So...

"We'll catch up this weekend?" I ask, finally turning to head for the foyer, "I can stop in at your shop one day, if you'd like?"

"Sure!" I say quickly before frowning as I shake my head. "Actually, maybe not? I think I'm taking the weekend off to work on a few projects here. But you're welcome to join me here, if you like? It might be a good time to introduce you to the garden because one of my projects is actually related to horticulture - a piece I've been working on for another witch for quite some time now, actually. I haven't been able to tweak it just right, so I can't unveil it for him yet."

I nod before remembering to respond, "Alright, when would you like me to come by?"

"Closer to noon than morning?" I offer as I tilt my head, a small smile coming to my lips. "Did you just nod at me?"

"No," I smirk, resting against the rails of the stairs as I glance in his direction in the library. "Maybe."

"You know, that's one of my favorite things?" I laugh as I step out of the library to talk to her more easily, slowly making my way to the front door so I don't trap her in a conversation standing here in the foyer for hours. "Everyone forgets I can't see that little nod they do. When I was a kid, I used to get so confused wondering what that sound was and why people made it before realizing that people shake their heads and nod to communicate with one another.

"I couldn't understand why people moved their hands so much, either," I admit as I come to rest with my hands on the railing of the stairs, my gaze fixed ahead of me as I smile vaguely. "It's fascinating, how complex our communication is, and how stunted ones grasp can be when they're missing something as simple as sight or sound."

I smile up at him, my feet twisted beneath me as I sway towards the door reluctantly.

"I feel like I'm always pointing at things, or nodding or shaking my head when I remember you obviously can't see that, and I wind up just feeling like an ass." I confess, "But, that's for another day. Walk me out?"

"I like it though," I admit with a laugh as I push away from the railing to walk beside here, our proximity probably a little closer than is wholly necessary. "It's kind of endearing, in a way? And I like it when people eventually forget entirely, and just carry on like I'm no different than anyone else. It's silly, but there's something gratifying about that moment. A sort of at last, I've infiltrated the see-ers circle! I'm one of them!"

I nod pointedly at that, grinning broadly as I step onto the front stoop and turn to look up at him.

"Well, then I'll stop bothering with being accommodating." I say, still smirking as I look back over my shoulder towards the gate at the head of the walkway.

"I had a really good time tonight," I start, "and I look forward to this weekend. Until then-" I draw in a sharp breath, moving quickly as I rise onto my toes just enough to lean in a plant a soft-but-quick kiss at the corner of his lips. With my heart still in my throat, I pull away and smile sheepishly, muttering a good bye as I turn to start down the walk.
