"Slacker," I scoff as I settle back against the headboard. As she begins digging into her breakfast, my hand goes to my pocket to pull out the bee I'd recovered. I don't say anything as I turn it over in my hand, admiring the delicate clockworks Marnin had put together to create the tiny insect.

"Call me a slacker all you want," I remark, pulling my plate into my lap as I pinch up the pieces of meat to fit into my biscuit, "I'm probably sleeping in the van, too. I'm still exhausted."

With a mouthful of food, I glance over at Lavellan and hum cheerfully, pointing at him as I try to talk around my food. "Izat my bee!?"

I raise an eyebrow at her attempt at communicating with her mouth full, my head immediately shaking in disapproval.

"You dropped it by the door to the inn," I say as I hold the bee out toward her. "The bartender had it, thanks to a Guardian turning it in."

"Oh, fuck," I frown as I swallow, reaching out to take the bee from him - careful not to touch his skin - so I can inspect it as I sit back. It looks unmarred, something that brings a sigh of relief as i look up at him.

"Thank you."

"It might be wise to keep it under lock and key," I frown slightly. "Something like that could easily be traced back to Skycrest."

"Well, I don't have lock and key," I sigh, shifting the plate in my lap so I can tuck the bee into the pocket of my pants. "I have a pocket."

"Then keep a hand on it," I chide as I get up to steal a piece of bacon from her plate. "We should head out soon," I add, abandoning the subject of Marnin or his bee. "Eat up and get dressed. I'll get everything together."

"My stuff is together," I say as I watch him with narrowed eyes, "And I am dressed.

"I didn't know if you'd come back with a bug up your ass, so I got my things together last night just in case you decided to leave."

"Well, that's all well and good, but I still have to get my stuff together," I respond crossly as I look back at her in annoyance. "It's a little difficult for me to leave with half my shit still scattered around the room, don't you think?"

"Then you should've packed it last night." I shrug, returning to my plate as I settle comfortably into the bed.

"I was a little busy finding your fucking bee, wasn't I?" I ask harshly as I start shoving my things into my bag. "And then, rather than sleeping in a comfortable bed like I wanted to, I got to spend the night making us look as inconspicuous as possible, just in case someone saw you and we had to brush off any suspicion they might have cast on us. I now know the names of seventeen grandchildren and the lineage of a fucking bartender from a long line of bartenders and drunks. I've spoken to two Guardians, three charges, and fucking prayed to a God I denounced over a century ago because apparently Guardians go through a morning prayer ritual that I didn't know about until I was being dragged to a chapel by other Guardians.

"So yeah," I snap as I glower back at her. "My bag is still unpacked."

His outburst sits oddly with me, though an emotional response isn't necessarily what springs to mind. Instead, I continue eating for a moment before I glance up at him.

"Is it still worth it, then?" I ask, "Being here?"

"Yes," I practically grind out, my teeth still clamped together as I zip my bag up angrily. Sighing heavily, I sink onto the end of my bed and let my head rest in my hands.

"Just-," I start, my voice sticking in my throat before I continue roughly. "Finish eating. I'd like to leave before my new friends decide they should join us on our trip 'back' to the capital."

"I'm done." I respond simply, moving to set the plate on the side table as I shove the blankets off and slide to the edge of the bed.

"Let's go then," I sigh as I drag my hands back through my hair before getting up to put my gloves on. "I want to get to the next town before sundown."
